I have been a journal writer most of my adult life and I have always taken the time to reflect and make connections. During COVID, in 2020, my journal became a significant part of my recovery after a break in my mental health. I needed a daily routine with structure. I tried different styles of journaling but I found I needed to examine all parts of my life, not just my mental health. I practice yoga at Bright Yoga and had the opportunity to purchase a copy of the Ignite Your Light journal. It is the journal I've always been looking for because I can start and end my day thinking and writing about all aspects of my life. I can set intentions, track my sleep patterns, set daily goals, write down food choices I've made that day and the amount of physical activity involved during the day. Later, I can reflect and see what worked or what I could do differently in the future. The journal includes daily prompts with unique ideas on how you could start something new or reinforce what you may already be doing. I take the time every morning before my first coffee and every evening while my tea is steeping to write and reflect. It is interesting some days to see if I reached my goals, and if not, what happened. Sometimes it's so simple as seeing I didn't eat any vegetables all day! There are also full pages starting with an inspirational quote and space to expand on an idea or make a connection. Sometimes I doodle, sometimes I write random thoughts or ideas. I really enjoy these added pages and I often Google the author of the quote because I'm curious and what to know more about that individual. Every day is a fresh start and a new page in the journal. The Ignite Your Light journal is just that, an opportunity to add another dimensions to your mental, physical, and emotional journey.
